This Week’s Top 5 Learnings – From Shruti’s Desk
useRef, Zustand, TanStack Query, 3000 subs on YouTube!
Here’s what I have learnt this week -
1️⃣ Beating Heart in CSS – Turns out, making a heartbeat ❤️ animation is easier than I thought! Just one <div>
, two content blocks, and a simple keyframe animation of zoom. Check it out here and make it for your valentine.
2️⃣ useRef in React – What’s cool is that React doesn’t re-render when ref updates which makes it handy for persisting values across renders.
3️⃣ Zustand for State Management – Think useState
and useContext
, but without the hassle of wrapping everything in Providers and without prop-drilling! A lightweight, flexible alternative to Redux.
4️⃣ TanStack Query = Fetching on Steroids – Not just for fetching APIs—it also handles caching, prefetching, pagination, and infinite scrolling. No wonder everyone loves it! It does a lot of the things for you that you would have to manually track. Here’s a video of my experience adding it to my app.
5️⃣ React State Management Without Extra Libraries – You don’t always need Zustand or TanStack Query. I walked through a React app in my weekly livestreams to show how you can manage state effectively with just built-in React tools.
